Implement the needed subset of POSIX in compat/, workaround fork. That'd help me to present git to my collegues without requiring them to install cygwin, perl and python first. It is a real problem to explain why a new tool is better than the old one if the problem start right from installation, and it probably wont matter how bad the old tool is (it is, they know that too, but it has windows, doors and a mostly running man for busy-waiting cursor).
